The Painter
-
Alex Merriman
Gestural and Color Field Painter, originally from Johnstown, PA. Studied under Abstract Artist Ed Kerns, a disciple of Grace Hartigan and collaborator with Willem de Kooning.
-
Alex started painting landscapes and portraiture in 2012. Experimentation with abstract landscapes changed the trajectory of his work in 2014. Eight foot canvases and free flowing brush strokes unchained his paintings from the everyday. This interpretation of reality ultimately shaped his future catalog; collection after collection.
-
In 2022, Alex started the Colors for Cancer Art Exhibit. A fundraiser highlighting local artists and raising money for different cancer organizations. Over the last 3 years, Colors for Cancer has raised just under $10,000 for cancer research. 2026 will be the 5th annual event, hope to see you there!
